The Sweet Life: Baking & Pastry Arts
Do you have an interest in sweet confections and how they are made? Do you love the idea of developing your baking and pastry techniques? The time has arrived. This inspiring baking program builds the essential skills needed to conquer the bake shop—even if you’ve never used a rolling pin.

This baking class is taught by the same instructors who train our students and requires no prior experience. Each day is a true hands-on experience, beginning with your first lesson. In this sweet, five-day program, students will practice essential baking skills and the fundamentals while creating a variety of sweet desserts and breads. Each student will leave on day 5 with a cookbook filled with recipes from their week of educational indulgence.

​Requirements: No Shorts, No tank tops (t-shirts recommended), No open toed shoes, (comfortable sneakers, students will be stand majority of the time), Hair must be pulled back and up away from face and off shoulders, No nail polish.

Computer Science: Learning to Program your Dog and Your Phone
In this session we will use Computer Science to build mobile apps and wearable devices that solve fun problems like “how can my dog tell me it’s time to go for a walk?” or “how can I make my phone listen to my voice?”
 
Using mobile devices, you will learn how to program your phone to react to your movements and even recognize voice commands! The best part? All the apps you make will run on any Android phone or tablet! We will also build wearable devices, like interactive friendship bracelets that talk to each other. Join us for a great week of creativity!

​With Old Colony’s Summer Discovery Arts and Crafts course we aim to inspire lifelong learning in craftsmanship and creativity for all. Projects are as follows: string art, abstract canvas art, crayon art, duct tape projects, and chain mail jewelry. Not your typical kitchen table projects. These creations are treasures to bring home and display with pride for the highest bidder.

Summer Running & Wellness Program
The best thing about running, more than any other sport, is that everyone can do it! You don't need special skills, pricey gear, athletic ability, or even good genes. All running requires is a pair of good fitting shoes and a little determination. Come learn how to run or improve your running abilities!  

Requirements:  Good pair of running shoes, athletic shorts, t-shirt/sports tank top, socks, a water bottle, a watch, towel/yoga mat, sun screen/mosquito repellent

2017 Cougar Soccer Camp
Coach Sergio Pedrosa (Boys' Varsity) and Coach Paul Sleight (Girls' Varsity) will run a co-ed developmental soccer camp for student-athletes in grades 5-8. Students will experience what it’s like to be a member of the OC Cougar Soccer Family. The program will focus on individual skill development as well as team building exercises. 

Requirements: Athletic gear (t-shirt, shorts, sneakers, shin guards, and cleats if possible).

2017 Cougar Football Camp
Spend the week living like a Cougar Football student-athlete! Students will be introduced to a full experience to include skills and drills, weight training, film study, games and competition.

We believe that football should be a combination of hard work and fun. During the week, students will have the chance to learn from highly qualified coaches as well as current and past Cougar Football players. The importance of goal-setting, sportsmanship, and perseverance will be reinforced. These are the basis for a thriving student-athlete and are alive in all that we do! This introductory academy will prepare students for action on and off the field with a focus on effort, enthusiasm, and fun!

Introduction to Automotive Maintenance
Do you love cars? Do you like working with your hands? Join the Old Colony Automotive Department for a fun-filled five day course. This course is designed for anyone who loves cars and would like an understanding of basic automotive maintenance, and safety. Experience how to check vehicle fluids, change engine oil, rotate tires, balance tires, wheel aligning procedures, and general safety around cars. Course Requirements: Safety glasses, Proper shop attire, No Shorts, No tank tops, No excessively loose clothing (jeans and t-shirts recommended), No open toed shoes, (boots preferred), long hair must be tied back, and no jewelry (students will be standing the majority of the time). Each student will receive a small tool kit as part of the course.

OC Test Kitchen

Is your dream to work in a professional kitchen? Do you love the idea of developing your own cooking techniques? Welcome to the OC Test Kitchen. This inspiring cooking program builds the essential skills needed to conquer the kitchen—even if you’ve never used a knife!


This cooking class is taught by the same instructors who train our students and requires no prior experience. Every day is a true hands-on experience, beginning with your first lesson. Each student will leave on day 5 with a cookbook filled with recipes from the week.

Drama/Theatre Camp

Drama is a wonderful tool to unlock your child’s imagination. Students will develop the basic acting techniques and stage movement to unlock their imagination, creativity and confidence. We will uncover a whole new world of dramatic arts to enhance their concentration and sensory awareness.

 

Students will develop their improvisational skills and learn vocal & movement techniques. The skills that students develop in this program will be useful life skills for their success on and beyond the stage.

Intro to Architectural Design using AutoCAD

This program will give students a basic understanding of the architectural profession and a preview into the design process. Using the basic principles of design, participants will design a conceptual sketch and create their own floor plan. Students will take their architectural skills to the next level while working with programs recognized in premier vocational schools, colleges, and universities across the country.

Upcycle: Arts & Crafts 

Green is the new gold. Upcycling is a nationwide movement where recycling meets production and creativity. Artistry and resourcefulness meet recycling in this "Green" approach to design and construction. Learn to use recycled materials as we construct mind-blowing projects of significant value. Students will leave with a working knowledge of project-based learning and an expanded capacity to think beyond the norm. We'll surpass expectations of the crayon aisle as we use a multitude of mediums as part of the creative process.

Cosmetology Basics: Hair, Skin & Nails

Students will be introduced to the basics of personal hygiene related to hair, skin & nails. During the 5 sessions students will be taught safety and proper use of hot styling tools. Students will practice styling techniques on mannequins.

Participants will also be taught how to properly care for their skin on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Each student will perform a proper facial on themselves after demonstrating it on their mannequin first.

 

Finally, students will learn about fingernails and the proper way to care for them. They will be exposed to the array of nail services available in industry (manicure, pedicure, gel and acrylic nails). They will perform a manicure on themselves and practice nail art on artificial nail tips.

​

Requirements: Closed toe shoes. Shirts must have a sleeve. No tank tops.

Boys' & Girls' Developmental Basketball Camp 

We believe your son or daughter will find our Basketball Academy challenging, educational, and most importantly fun! Our 2016-2017 Old Colony Basketball Programs are proud to have both captured League Championships while maintaining high expectations for our student-athletes in the classroom.

 

Our goal is to help each participant become the best he or she can be, both on and off the court. Each session is packed with competitive games, player development drills, informational lectures from our coaches, as well as current player appearances and demonstrations. Our academy staff is comprised of experienced coaches who are passionate about player development. If you are serious about becoming the best, Old Colony Basketball Academy is for you!

Flag football, street hockey, soccer, wiffle ball, basketball and some of the more creative yard games we all grew up with. Participants should wear sneakers and athletic attire as we hit the great outdoors and plan for a week away from our devices under the clear blue skies.

It's Electrifying! 

Explore the wonders of electricity in our Electrical Discovery program. Students will learn about the basic fundamentals of electricity. Electricity, magnetism, motors and solar principles will be explored and discussed using hands on projects. Projects include the construction of basic series and parallel circuits, electro-magnets and a miniature solar electric system. Students will construct a fully functional solar model car that they will keep along with a miniature electrical training kit which will allow them to continue to explore the benefits of the use of electricity.

Cougar Crime Lab: Forensic Science
As a new employee at our Cougar Crime Lab, Junior Investigators expect the training to be exciting, but never thought it would be THIS exciting! While earning certification on advanced crime lab and biotechnology methods, a live case is delivered and Cougar Crime Lab needs YOU to help determine what happened! Training will include Blood Type analysis, Kastle-Meyer tests, DNA Fingerprinting and everything in-between!
